Trip to Kenting

Sorry, haven't written a lot, been pretty wiped out at the end of each day. Anyways, here is out Kenting trip!

DAY 1

So on Monday we took a 2 hour train ride to the country's southern most large city of Kaohsiung. From there we took a two hour bus to the beach town of Kenting, at the very southern tip of Taiwan.

We get into town and make our way to our hostel. It is on this big plot of land in the Kenting national park, pretty huge. The ladies at the desk were really helpful and we got our room. It was suuuuper nice, two queen beds, our own bathroom and a huge flat screen TV.

After we got settled we took a walk down to the beach, it was beautiful, white sand and aqua waters. We walked the length of the beach and went up to the main street to find some food.

We stopped at a pub and got some chicken wings and drinks, then walked the main street back to the hostel. Once it got late we went out for Kenting's Night Market. TONS of yummy foods and stands the whole length of the street, so delicious. Tried some stuff that I have never heard of but everything was tasty. After we eat our fill, we we went to this trendy little bar called Lulu's. Very comfy and fun they were playing pop and hip hop. We headed back to the hostel and watched some Taiwan MTV before going off to sleep.

DAY 2

We slept in a little bit and then went on a hunt for some bikes to rent. We were happy that the weather was holding out since the forecast had said it would be pouring rain. We rented some bikes from the hostel and headed to the National Park. We soon realized the ride would be pretty tough trying to ride up into the forest, so we opted to ride along a country rode past some farms, it was an awesome ride.

After we ride for an hour we head back to the hostel then head to the beach. We tried to crash the big Hotel's beach area, but they caught us so we took to some lounge chairs at the very end of the big hotel's property. I was the only one that went into the water and it was soooo nice. Kenting really reminded me of Hawaii, very tropical and laid back. After hanging out at the beach for a few hours we head back to the hostel to wash up for another night of night Market. Matt had started feeling sick with a cold so he hung out at the hostel, so it turned into a ladies night! We got some more tasty food and did some shopping. All three of us got some cute lego watches and I got some trinkets. the best thing of all was that I found this super random Big Bang Theory shirt. It has Sheldon's "Soft Kitty" song on it and I HAD to have it. Its pretty much my favorite shirt, I am wearing it right now!!! We ended the night watching some Jersey Shore!

DAY 3

Slept in late again, packed our stuff and checked out of the hostel. Poor Matt was really feeling sick so he decided to stay at the 7 Eleven and eat a hot dog for lunch while the girls and I went looking for a more exotic meal. We found a nice little place on the main street, and Yushin and Jess ordered for us, all of it was great, and even got a crazy stew that reminded me of menudo, have intestines and spices and was really good. The only difference was it also had congealed pork blood, which wasn't my favorite thing, but it wasnt bad.

After having a bit of trouble finding our bus, we headed back to Kaohsiung. From there we took the bullet train back to Taipei! It was an awesome smooth ride, saw some awesome country side and we got to Taipei in 2 hours instead of 5.

When we got back to Taipei we were pretty hungry so we stopped at a tasty sushi chain place, where the sushi goes by on a conveyor belt. Much better than I was expecting, and pretty cheap too!

It was nice getting back to Taipei even though it was raining. It has been raining off and on since there is a Typhoon that is passing near Taiwan. So we will probably feel the effects of it for awhile. I will write some more about our latest adventures here soon, which include, clubbing, hot potting and hot springs!!!!
