Surfers to Byron

Sunday the 12th and and Monday the 13th

Sunday

Woke up to check out of the hostel, since my bus wasnt leaving until 3, i hung around in the movie room. It was raining earlier so I thought I couldn't go on the crazy slingshot that was across the road. My Canuck friends had all gone on it and said it was really worht it. Finally the skies cleared so Steve walked with me over there. I wasn't scared at all until I saw the people in front of me go. Its daunting when you hear grown men scream. Finally it was my turn, Steve didnt have any money left so he was going to take pics for me and one of the employess joined me. We were strapped in, sank down into a hole, then shot up so high in the air. It was so amazing! The views of the whole city and beach, right before you flip over backwards and started heading towards the ground again. So much fun that I went twice!

There I go!

There I go!

After that craziness, I got some lunch, watched Top Gun at the hostel, then headed to the bus stop with Steve, meghan and Chloe. They were taking the Greyhound, but we were arriving at the hostel around the same time so I would see them there. The Oz experiance bus picked us up and we were off! It was about a 2 hour bus ride, pretty raining and gloomy the whole way there. Our bus driver gave us some facts around the surrounding area, played some games, then I took a nap.
To Byron Bay

To Byron Bay

Finally get to Byron Bay, and it reminds me a lot of Santa Cruz and Northern California. Its a mid size beach town with lots of hippies, but I think the thing that made it seem like SC the most was the rain. We get to our hostel and Im up graded to a 4 bed room which was great. I wandered into town to look for dinner and foudn this great kabab place. Very tasty and filling ( and expensive)I took a shower, had some more snacks, watched 2 hours of "How I met your Mother", then fell right to sleep.

Monday

Woke up to even more rain, not just rain but a down pour. So much you couldn't even walk into town. I had bought some ceareal bars and apples the day before, so I ate those all day. I sat in the common area, read, went online and watched some movies. Finally the rain cleared up a bit so I wandered into town again. Hung out at one of the coffee shops the got a fish burger at the famed Fishhead, and it was sooooooo good. By the time I got back to the hostel the Canucks were making dinner and invited me to go play some board games. Of course, goon was involved :P We played some card games and then "Battle of the Sexes" which was the Australian version since we didnt know a lot of the questions. Called it a night around midnight, and went to bed hoping for a sun filled day for my last day in Byron....

So Im still far behind on my blog, just got to Sydney so hopefully i can crank through and catch up in the next few days. Thanks for reading :)
